You’ve heard of Cosmetic Acupuncture, but we here at Source Empowered Wellness are offering you the ability to take your facial health to the next level with MicroNeedling!
Both of these therapies work well together. Cosmetic acupuncture involves inserting small painless needles into areas of concern and into major muscles in the face. Strategic insertions tighten and tone the muscles of the face and therefore baggy areas and locally encourages more elastin and collagen. This treatment is most effective coming in twice a week for up to twelve sessions and is limited by the amount of needles that is best to place in the local areas.
MicroNeedling is recommended once a month and covers the whole surface area of the face and neck. It is a safe and 100% natural procedure involving an electric pen with a set of small needles on the end which allows for wide coverage of the sensitive skin on neck, lips and whole face. We also include body points in your session to benefit your whole body.
It’s normal for the skin to lose collagen via age or injury. MicroNeedling works by encouraging your skin to make more collagen. The idea is that pinpricks from the procedure cause slight injury to the skin and that the skin responds by making new collagen-rich tissue.
The new skin tissue is, in turn, more even in tone and texture, and by encouraging the skin to make new tissue, there will be more collagen to help make the skin firmer, too. Quite the facial double whammy!
Common targeted areas for MicroNeedling:
- Acne scars
- Age spots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Large pores
- Reduced skin elasticity
- Uneven skin tone
On a short-term basis, MicroNeedling plumps up the skin and makes it look more radiant, increasing blood flow to the face as well as the organs attached to it, by way of energy meridians.
In a 2008 study, participants had their skin treated with four MicroNeedling sessions spaced out one month apart. Results reflected up to a 400% increase in collagen and elastin, continuing up to six months after completing those treatments.
So, much like traditional Acupuncture, the benefits of MicroNeedling just keep on rolling (pun intended)!
